Your care will be led exclusively by Dr. Marta Santorum-Perez or Dr. Matthew Brown – internationally recognised fetal surgeons and specialists in high-risk obstetrics. Both practise at leading NHS teaching hospitals and have played a pivotal role in developing pioneering fetal surgery for spina bifida.

Dr. Marta Santorum-Perez
Dr Santorum-Perez is a highly recognised doctor, with over 25 years of experience as a consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine. She graduated from University of Santiago, Spain, with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, followed by a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She then pursued further training in fetal medicine at King’s College Hospital, London, one of the world’s leading centres for fetal medicine.
Her NHS practice is based at King’s College Hospital where she manages all types of high-risk pregnancies, performs complex caesarean sections and intra-uterine fetal operations. Dr Santorum-Perez is a highly skilled fetal surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex congenital conditions before birth. She has performed ground breaking interventions, including in-utero repair of spina bifida, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) laser ablation, and congenital diaphragmatic hernia corrections.
Dr. Santorum-Perez also sees private patients at The Fetal Medicine Centre in Harley Street, where she utilises her expertise in pre-natal diagnosis and obstetric ultrasound scanning to provide the best available level of care, including second opinions for other obstetric doctors and fetal medicine specialists. Her many years based in Harley Street have generated consistently excellent feedback regarding her compassionate and empathic approach.
Throughout her career, Dr. Santorum has been dedicated to providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers and their families, emphasizing personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs. She is passionate about empowering women through knowledge and support during their pregnancy journey.

Dr. Matthew Brown
Dr. Matthew Brown is a highly regarded Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine, offering expert and supportive care to women with routine and high risk pregnancies. He completed his medical degrees at University of St Andrews and Barts and The London School of Medicine. After general training, Dr. Brown specialised with Professor Kypros Nicolaides, a pioneer and global authority in Fetal Medicine at King’s College Hospital, London.
During this time Dr. Brown joined a pioneering team of surgeons performing in-utero spina bifida repair, a minimal access procedure offered for the first time in the UK. He is one of only two specialists in the UK able to carry out this procedure and continues to collaborate with leading surgeons across Europe and the US to refine the technique.
Dr. Brown’s NHS practice at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital includes high-risk pregnancies, diabetes in pregnancy, complex caesarean sections, and a Birth Choices Clinic for women with previous birth trauma. With a focus on physical and emotional well-being, surgical excellence, and clear communication, Dr. Brown is uniquely positioned to provide the highest standard of care. His expertise supports women throughout every stage of pregnancy and birth, enabling them to make informed choices with confidence—knowing their pregnancy has been accurately and safely risk-stratified. He is known for his kind, supportive presence and the confidence he instills in women throughout their pregnancy.
